In Ephesians 5: 1,2 Paul urges us to be imitators of God:
1 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
The Chorus which in the last 30 or so years has become a favourite of many comes to mind.

To be like Jesus!
This hope possesses me,
In every thought and deed,
This is my aim, my creed;
To be like Jesus!
This hope possesses me,
His Spirit helping me,
Like him I'll be.
The Salvation Army Song Book:
Chorus Number: 107

We can read of Jesus in the four Gospels. We can watch movies about him. We can turn to Bible Studies and various commentaries about Jesus. We can sing hymns, and praise and worship songs. We can listen to sermons and join in discussion groups. However, what will make us imitators of God and like Jesus?

Paul gives the answer in Romans 12 verse 2

Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. (The Message).

PRAYER:

God, my Heavenly Father I pray that your Holy Spirit will help me be like Jesus in all my living. Amen.

Wake Up from Your Sleep
1Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behaviour from their parents.
2Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn't love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.
