OzThoughts Monday 8th December 2008

“Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness,
Worship the Lord in the spirit of praise.
Bow down before Him,
Love and adore Him,
Come let us worship in spirit and truth.”
Author: James Curnow

These words help me to centre our minds and spirits on the important things as we enter deeper into the Advent / Christmas season. As we commence this week, which takes us in to the world of the ordinary and routine things of life we can centre our minds on the same Jesus, the babe of Bethlehem.

Prayer:

Father God, help me to know the glory of Jesus’ presence with me in all I do this week. May you comfort the bereaved, care for the sick, and challenge the sinner. Lord, let me minister in your name , if that be your will for me. Amen.

MEDITATION:

Psalm 96:8-10 (New International Version)
8 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name;
bring an offering and come into his courts.
9 Worship the LORD in the splendor of his [a] holiness;
tremble before him, all the earth.
10 Say among the nations, "The LORD reigns."
The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved;
he will judge the peoples with equity.

Psalm 96: 8-10 (The Message)
8 Bring gifts and celebrate,
9 Bow before the beauty of GOD,
Then to your knees--everyone worship!
10 Get out the message--GOD Rules!
He put the world on a firm foundation;
He treats everyone fair and square.

Do you know the song that the angels sang
On that night in the long ago,
When the heavens above with their music rang
Till it echoed in the earth below?

Refrain

All glory in the highest,
Peace on earth, goodwill to men,
Glory in the highest,
Peace, goodwill to men;
Glory in the highest,
Glory in the highest,
Peace on earth, goodwill to men.

Do you know the song that the shepherds heard
As they watched o’er their flocks by night,
When the skies bent down, and their hearts were stirred
By the voices of the angels bright?

Do you know the story that the wise men learned
As they journeyed from the east afar,
O’er a pathway plain, for there nightly burned
In their sight a glorious guiding star?
