[See The General’s Call To Prayer For All Salvationists after the Bible passage below ]
I pray that you will have a great week.
How do you like interruptions to things you have planned? I had a boss at one stage when we worked for a volunteer organisation who absolutely hated interruptions. The organisation’s policy was that there was an “open door” at head office for volunteers. They were to be treated with every courtesy and time was to be given freely to them. More than once I heard this manager’s anger expressed to other staff members about the way volunteers interrupted him when he had important work to do.
Jesus spent his ministry encountering interruptions. Some people purposefully interrupted him. Others like the woman in today’s story did not want to interrupt him , although she desperately wanted his healing.
‘She was thinking to herself, "If I can just put a finger on his robe, I'll get well."’
Matthew records Jesus’ reaction:
‘Jesus turned—caught her at it. Then he reassured her: "Courage, daughter. You took a risk of faith, and now you're well." The woman was well from then on.’
Are we willing to allow interruptions – for Jesus’ sake – in our lives this week?

Saviour of light, I look just now to thee:
Brighten my path, so only shall I see
Thy footprints, Lord, which mark the way for me;
Light of my life, so surely thou wilt be.
O Man of Galilee!
Chorus
O Man of Galilee,
Stay with and strengthen me;
Walk thou through life with me,
O Man of Galilee!
Another touch, I ask another still,
That daily, hourly, I may do thy will;
Healer of wounds and bearer of all pain,
Thy touch, thy power are evermore the same,
O Man of Galilee!
Lord of my life, I dare step out to thee
Who stilled the waves and stayed the tossing sea;
When floods o'erwhelm, my safety thou wilt be;
When nightfall comes, O Lord, abide with me:
O Man of Galilee!

Matthew 9:18-26 (The Message)
18-19As he finished saying this, a local official appeared, bowed politely, and said, "My daughter has just now died. If you come and touch her, she will live." Jesus got up and went with him, his disciples following along.
20-22Just then a woman who had hemorrhaged for twelve years slipped in from behind and lightly touched his robe. She was thinking to herself, "If I can just put a finger on his robe, I'll get well." Jesus turned—caught her at it. Then he reassured her: "Courage, daughter. You took a risk of faith, and now you're well." The woman was well from then on.
23-26By now they had arrived at the house of the town official, and pushed their way through the gossips looking for a story and the neighbors bringing in casseroles. Jesus was abrupt: "Clear out! This girl isn't dead. She's sleeping." They told him he didn't know what he was talking about. But when Jesus had gotten rid of the crowd, he went in, took the girl's hand, and pulled her to her feet—alive. The news was soon out, and travelled throughout the region.

The General Calls The Salvation Army to Prayer for the International Conference of Leaders
HAVING announced to the Army world in February the convening of the International Conference of Leaders to be held in London from 7-13 July 2009, General Shaw Clifton once again invites Salvationists around the world to uphold in prayer the senior leaders who will attend from every corner of the globe.
As previously indicated, the total number of senior leaders attending will be 135, representing every territory and command in the five zones as well as International Headquarters. To assist Salvationists to focus their prayers meaningfully, the General has indicated that the following issues and themes will feature in the deliberations:
• working for Kingdom growth through the Army's growth and through the establishing of Army work and witness in new lands;
• the building up of God's Kingdom through an ever-deepening commitment to Christ;
• the God-given role of Salvationists in working for social relief, social justice and human rights;
• the impact of global financial recession upon the Army;
• the challenge of working in Muslim cultures;
• understanding current cultural trends in relation to gender issues, the younger generation and other Christian bodies;
• the ongoing winning and discipling of children and whole families for Christ;
• the constant need to prepare the future leaders of the Army on every continent;
• a re-affirmation of the role of all Salvationists in the building of God's Kingdom on earth.
The delegates will spend time not only in formal discussions but also in prayer, worship and the study of the Scriptures.
There will be daily news releases issued to the Army from the conference venue located to the west of London.
The General anticipates that the conference will wish to issue a statement to all Salvationists soon after it concludes.
In order to serve as a constant reminder to delegates that the Army's primary purpose is to introduce people to the Saviour, the focal point of the conference room will be a mercy seat together with a large cross, prompting delegates to think of the crucified, risen and ascended Lord.

SalvationArmy3: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/salvationarmy3/
SALVATIONARMY3 was born in August 2004 because we felt that there was a need for a place on the Internet where Salvationists and Christian Friends could come together and talk about things concerning The Salvation Army, their Faith, and all that is involved within it.
We are now the largest and most active Salvation Army Group on the Internet with over 870 members.
We wanted a place where we could discuss how we can be better people in this world because of …
• Our belief and trust in God the Father.
• Our love for Jesus and all that He means to us day by day.
• Our experience of The Holy Spirit in our everyday lives.
As the founder of SALVATIONARMY3 wrote when we first came into being ...“It is my Prayer that this group stays a Holy place, where JESUS is the Focus of every Conversation, and "OTHERS" is the reason we meet.
I Love JESUS and THE SALVATION ARMY and want a great place to meet others who feel the same”...
If you feel you would like to be part of a vibrant and active Salvation Army group, please come in and join us. A Welcome awaits you.
