OzThoughts – Tuesday 7th July, 2009

One of the tasks we face today and everyday is the sharing of our faith. In the second part of today’s reading from Matthew’s Gospel, we see how Jesus did it. He went from town to town and village to village.

Most of us do not have the opportunity to do this, but I would think that the average person would meet a good number of people in a day. I therefore suggest if we do not go from town to town, we at least go from person to person. We can be one of the harvest workers that Jesus asks his disciples to pray for.
As we go from person to person, some of us may be like the man in the first part of the story. We are speechless. Like the man we can allow Jesus to take control of our life and the result will be just like in the story “the man talked away just as if he'd been talking all his life. The people were up on their feet applauding: "There's never been anything like this in Israel!"
We are witnesses for Jesus
In the haunts of sin and shame,
In the underworld of sorrow
Where men seldom hear his name;
For to bind the brokenhearted
And their liberty proclaim,
We are witnesses for Jesus
In the haunts of sin and shame.

Chorus
Tell the world, O tell the world!
Make salvation's story heard
In the highways, in the byways,
And in lands beyond the sea,
Do some witnessing for Jesus
Wheresoever you may be.

We are witnesses for Jesus
In the lands beyond the sea,
Where the millions bound by evil
Have no hope of liberty;
As we tell the gospel tidings,
Lo! the captives are set free;
We are witnesses for Jesus
In the lands beyond the sea.

We are witnesses for Jesus
In the home and in the mart,
Where the cares of life and fashion
Crowd the Saviour from the heart;
When we urge his claims with wisdom
Many choose the better part;
We are witnesses for Jesus
In the home and in the mart.

Matthew 9:32-38 (The Message)
32-33Right after that, as the blind men were leaving, a man who had been struck speechless by an evil spirit was brought to Jesus. As soon as Jesus threw the evil tormenting spirit out, the man talked away just as if he'd been talking all his life. The people were up on their feet applauding: "There's never been anything like this in Israel!"
34The Pharisees were left sputtering, "Hocus-pocus. It's nothing but hocus-pocus. He's probably made a pact with the Devil."
35-38Then Jesus made a circuit of all the towns and villages. He taught in their meeting places, reported kingdom news, and healed their diseased bodies, healed their bruised and hurt lives. When he looked out over the crowds, his heart broke. So confused and aimless they were, like sheep with no shepherd. "What a huge harvest!" he said to his disciples. "How few workers! On your knees and pray for harvest hands!"

SalvationArmy3: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/salvationarmy3/

SALVATIONARMY3 was born in August 2004 because we felt that there was a need for a place on the Internet where Salvationists and Christian Friends could come together and talk about things concerning The Salvation Army, their Faith, and all that is involved within it.

We are now the largest and most active Salvation Army Group on the Internet with over 870 members.

We wanted a place where we could discuss how we can be better people in this world because of …
• Our belief and trust in God the Father.
• Our love for Jesus and all that He means to us day by day.
• Our experience of The Holy Spirit in our everyday lives.

As the founder of SALVATIONARMY3 wrote when we first came into being ...“It is my Prayer that this group stays a Holy place, where JESUS is the Focus of every Conversation, and "OTHERS" is the reason we meet.
I Love JESUS and THE SALVATION ARMY and want a great place to meet others who feel the same”...

If you feel you would like to be part of a vibrant and active Salvation Army group, please come in and join us. A Welcome awaits you.
