OzThoughts Wednesday 12th August 2009.

OzThoughts Wednesday 12th August 2009.

I work in a hospital which has 575 beds and naturally a large amount of employees, volunteers, and third parties such as pathology, pharmacy, and x-ray providers who also have a large number of employees. Of course, there are doctors and student doctors and student nurses to add into the mix. Then you can probably imagine the number of relatives and friends who come through the doors at any time of the day.

To say that I have trouble with remembering names is probably understating the truth. To pass off the difficulty, I sometimes say “I thought I had a good memory for names but then I found out I did not know many people”.

I hav sometimes been deeply moved as I have listened to the song “He knows my name”. What a beautiful song that is. It gives me great assurance as I am sure I have said previously.

Ephesians Chapter 4 tells me that God not only knows my name but he has given me a gift for ministry and additionally wants me to be “perfected” in ministry by those he has also gifted for particular ministries. I can learn from others. As I do so I can try to remember their name.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, I pray that as I stand in your presence you will continue to equip me for the service to which you have called me. Amen.

Meditation:

Ephesians 4: 11b-13. (The Message).
He handed out gifts of apostle, prophet, evangelist, and pastor-teacher
12 to train Christians in skilled servant work, working within Christ's body, the church,
13 until we're all moving rhythmically and easily with each other, efficient and graceful in response to God's Son, fully mature adults, fully developed within and without, fully alive like Christ.

I have a maker
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in his hand

Chorus
He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And hears me when I call

I have a Father
He calls me his own
He'll never leave me
No matter where I go

Chorus
He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And hears me when I call
