OzThoughts – Thursday 26th November 2009.

OzThoughts – Thursday 26th November 2009.

[Admin note: There are 5 band selections with “Thanksgiving” in their title at the end of today’s OzThoughts. ]

Today in The USA is Thanksgiving. Canada had their’s last month. The rest of the world does not celebrate a special day called “Thanksgiving”. In some places there are Harvest Festivals which are a time of thanksgiving for the harvest.

There are many who live by St Paul’s suggestion to a small church in Greece,

“Thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live”. (1 Thessalonians 5: 18 - The Message)

PRAYER:

My Heavenly Father, I thank you for every thing you give me. I thank you for life and its turnings. Thank you for the thorns amongst the most beautiful perfume flowers, the bones in my meal of fresh fish and the seeds in the grapes I enjoy. Help me to se they have their purpose in your creation. Amen.

Psalm 24 (The Message)
1-2 GOD claims Earth and everything in it,
GOD claims World and all who live on it.
He built it on Ocean foundations,
laid it out on River girders.

3-4 Who can climb Mount GOD?
Who can scale the holy north-face?
Only the clean-handed,
only the pure-hearted;
Men who won't cheat,
women who won't seduce.

5-6 GOD is at their side;
with GOD's help they make it.
This, Jacob, is what happens
to God-seekers, God-questers.

7 Wake up, you sleepyhead city!
Wake up, you sleepyhead people!
King-Glory is ready to enter.

8 Who is this King-Glory?
GOD, armed
and battle-ready.

9 Wake up, you sleepyhead city!
Wake up, you sleepyhead people!
King-Glory is ready to enter.

10 Who is this King-Glory?
GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies:
he is King-Glory.

All creatures of our God and King,
Lift up your voice and with us sing
Alleluia, alleluia!
Thou burning sun with golden beam,
Thou silver moon with softer gleam:

Chorus
O praise him, O praise him,
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Thou rushing wind that art so strong,
Ye clouds that sail in heaven along,
O praise him, alleluia!
Thou rising morn, in praise rejoice,
Ye lights of evening, find a voice:

Thou flowing water, pure and clear,
Make music for thy Lord to hear,
Alleluia, alleluia!
Thou fire so masterful and bright,
That givest man both warmth and light:

Dear mother earth, who day by day
Unfoldest blessings on our way,
O praise him, alleluia!
The flowers and fruits that in thee grow,
Let them his glory also show:

Let all things their Creator bless,
And worship him in humbleness,
O praise him, alleluia!
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,
And praise the Spirit, Three in One:
